New Procurement Policy Note (PPN) puts a greater focus on Social Value
Procurement accounts for around a third of all public expenditure, and greater focus is being put on how this spending can better support the delivery of key priorities – including generating economic growth, helping communities recover from the Covid-19 pandemic, and supporting the transition to net zero carbon.

With the introduction of ‘Procurement Policy Note 05/21: National Procurement Policy Statement’, all contracting authorities should consider the following national priority outcomes, alongside any additional local priorities in their procurement activities:

◆ creating new businesses, new jobs and new skills;
◆ tackling climate change and reducing waste, and
◆ improving supplier diversity, innovation and resilience.

If you are unsure of how to highlight social value benefits within your tender responses, our Social Value in Bidding training courses can help you maximise your scores for social value questions.
