Suppliers will now be asked to include Carbon Reduction Plans within their bids for major government contracts.
To help the UK Government achieve its ‘Net Zero’ target, a new Procurement Policy Note (PPN) has created the need for Central Government Departments, their Executive Agencies and Non Departmental Public Bodies to take account of suppliers’ Carbon Reduction Plans for the procurement of major Government contracts.

Suppliers will need to demonstrate their commitment to achieving Net Zero by 2050 in the UK, and provide details of the environmental management measures that will be in use when fulfilling the contract.

Full details as well as a sample Carbon Reduction Plan can be found within the Procurement Policy Note – Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the procurement of major government contracts.
