Government announces £32.7 million for new link road in Central Bedfordshire
A new 2.75-mile road will be built in Central Bedfordshire, linking Junction 11a of the M11 and the A6, forming a north-western bypass for Luton. The road will support the development of 3,600 new homes.
Care leavers and disadvantaged pupils to benefit from £126 million investment in new laptops and tablets
This funding will allow up to half a million more disadvantaged children and young people to receive devices to help support their education and keep them connected to others. Schools, colleges, and councils will be invited during November and December to order their allocation of devices. £13 million will also be available for schools and colleges to help with the purchase of IT support to set up the devices.
Octopus Real Estate and Homes England launch £175m Greener Homes Alliance
The £175 million will be used to provide loan finance and expert support to SME housebuilders, to help them build more high quality, energy efficient homes across England. Loans of between £1 million and £20 million will be available to help finance new SME development projects. SMEs will also be able to benefit from free of charge, expert advice from sustainability consultants.
Darlington secures £3.43m funding to invest in the town’s ‘levelling up’ transformation
The investment has been secured through the ‘Towns Fund’ and will be used to improve Skinnergate and the Yards, set up an adult skills centre in the Northern Echo building, and develop a state-of-the-art facility at Darlington College.
Road construction in full swing in Gillingham
Principal Street is a 1.3km-long residential road, and its creation will enable the development of 1,800 homes, as well as a new primary school, health facilities, sports pitches, play areas, shops, and open spaces.
Assessing the feasibility of a transport hub in Cosham
Feasibility studies have started for transport hubs around Hampshire, including Cosham, within the Portsmouth boundary. These studies have been funded by National Highways and it is hoped that the resulting projects will contribute to increased accessibility and more sustainable transport.
