NEW GOVERNMENT GUIDANCE: The Digital, Data and Technology Playbook
The UK Government has released new guidance for how they should source and contract for digital, data and technology services.
The Digital, Data and Technology Playbook introduces new requirements for central government departments, and serves as a best practice guide for the wider public sector. Suppliers could familiarise themselves with this playbook to ensure their bids help contracting authorities achieve the 6 key priorities highlighted within this playbook:

◆ take an outcome-based approach to the delivery of products and services focusing on user needs, not specific solutions
◆ avoid and remediate legacy IT and tackle our technical debt
◆ ensure cyber security to maintain operational resilience
◆ enable innovation from continuous improvement to transformative new products and services
◆ drive sustainability in our environment, commercial practices and economy
◆ level the playing field for SMEs to enable economic growth, employment and investment opportunities

The Welsh Government has shared plans on how it would like to overhaul public transport by introducing legislation that would change the way bus services are delivered. The Bus White Paper proposes a new model that requires the franchising of bus services across Wales, which would allow local authorities to create new bus companies while also relaxing restrictions on existing bus companies.
