Communities across UK handed control of £2.6 billion levelling up funding
Over the next 3 years, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund will help eliminate geographical disparities and help communities fund vital projects. This could include regenerating rundown high streets, fighting anti-social behaviour and crime, or helping more people into decent jobs.
Funding allocation: £1,588m – England, £212m – Scotland, £585m – Wales, £127m – Northern Ireland.

£20 million to improve roadside facilities for HGV drivers
As part of continued government action to boost driver welfare, and tackle the effects of the global driver shortage in the UK, £20m has been specifically allocated to improve roadside facilities. The funding is part of the £169m Users and Communities Fund, and will be used to improve and create a range of facilities as well as increasing parking spaces for lorry drivers. Roadside service operators are being encouraged to apply for the multimillion-pound fund immediately.

Energy Security Strategy: Hydrogen and carbon capture tech get £375 million government boost
£375m has been pledged to develop the UK’s next generation of energy technology, and move away from the reliance on overseas markets for energy supplies. £240m of this fund will go towards hydrogen projects and will be allocated later this year. The aim is to have 2GW of low-carbon hydrogen production capacity by 2025 and up to 10GW by 2030.

Government pledges £7.6 million for rail innovation
The government has made £7.6 million available for cutting-edge rail travel technology through this year’s First of a Kind competition. Organisations of any size who specialise in innovative ways to modernise the rail travel are encouraged to submit bots when the competition opens on 20 April 2022.

Competition launched for £12 million grant to turbocharge UK tech growth
The £12.09 million Digital Growth Grant will focus on opening up access to skills training and advice, and providing support services to the digital and tech sector over two years.
