£1 billion technology investment to bring railway into 21st century
The southern section of the East Coast Main Line will receive a £1bn upgrade to install cutting-edge digital signalling technology.

Plans revealed for new carbon neutral transport network in the south east
Plans to create a fully integrated and carbon neutral transport network in the south east by 2050 have been announced. The Transport for the South East (TfSE) project will be led by East Sussex County Council, to be partially funded by ticket sales and Department for Transport grants. TfSE would cover rail, road, air, and sea travel projects across Kent and Medway, East and West Sussex, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and the Isle of Wight.

Sandwell Council seeks £80m from government Levelling Up Fund
The council will be submitting several bids for Levelling Up Funding, each bid with a maximum value of £20m. The council will be seeing funding to build homes in Tipton Town Centre, replace the leisure centre in Rowley Regis, buy land for homes and a school in Smethwick and build a youth centre in West Bromwich.

Fresh bids for millions of pounds of Levelling Up cash being finalised by Swansea Council
After missing out on funding in the first round of Levelling Up Funding, Swansea Council is developing a new bid to submit for this round of funding. Details TBC.
It has however been confirmed that the council is also writing an investment plan to unlock £138m over the next three years.

Government invests £10 million to develop hydrogen energy
To support a cleaner and greener energy system, the Scottish Government is investing £10m to develop hydrogen projects.

Gwynedd Council will ask for Levelling-Up bypass cash after Welsh Government snub for new road
Despite £1.7m having been spent on the Llanbedr bypass, the £14m project was scrapped last November in the Welsh Government’s climate change roads review. A new plan that features the addition of active travel routes, will be submitted in a bid for Levelling Up Funding.

Plans for Spalding’s £20million Castle Sports Complex bid include health and wellbeing hub and housing
South Holland District Council is applying for £20m Levelling Up Funding to develop the Castle Sports Complex with the addition of a 3G pitch, new swimming pool, and adventure zone.

Manchester submits plans for debut This City project 
This City is Manchester City Council’s new housing delivery company, which aims to deliver 500 new homes annually. Its first project will create 128 homes, with properties ranging from one-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses. 

European Investment Bank to back energy, climate projects to the tune of €1 billion
Following a meeting of the Ireland-EIB Financing Group, a funding package of €1bn to support climate action, clean transport, renewable energy, healthcare, education, agriculture, and business is expected.

Ministers Welcome EU Funding for Transport Projects Including Rail Connections With Seaports and Revamped Road Link to Rosslare Harbour
€13m of co-funding has been allocated for transport projects in Ireland under the European Union’s Connecting Europe Facility. Of this funding, €2.5m will support studies into the development of a rail freight system connecting Ireland’s busiest seaports, and €2.8m will help Wexford County Council plan and design of the N11/N25 between Oilgate and Rosslare Harbour.
