Second cycling and walking investment strategy – July 2022
The second statutory cycling and walking investment strategy (CWIS2), will see around £4bn invested in walking and cycling projects up to 2025. The strategy includes new and updated objectives for England and includes plans focusing on doubling cycling, increasing levels of walking across the community, and walking to school.
Ireland’s €9.5bn MetroLink project secures Cabinet nod
The National Transport Authority (NTA) and Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s (TII) business case for a MetroLink rail project has been approved. The rail route will be 19.4km long, operating between the Swords area and Charlemont in the south Dublin City Centre, and is expected to be operational by the early 2030s.
£175million in funding to be invested in improving data infrastructure
A further £175m in funding, on top of the £200 announced earlier this year, will be invested in improving the infrastructure of health data in the UK.
£8.5m Welsh Government Investment in Major New Industrial Scheme in Ebbw Vale
The Welsh Government is investing £8.5 million to build a 50,000 sq ft industrial unit at Rhyd y Blew, in Ebbw Vale, in the Tech Valleys area. This is phase one of a much wider masterplan to meet the high demand for industrial space in the region.
