£1.6 billion investment brought forward to speed up vital water infrastructure projects

Funding will go to new projects such as:

  • United Utilities reducing around 8,400 spills per year, including reducing discharges into Lake Windermere (£800 million)
  • Yorkshire Water improving wastewater treatment infrastructure in Ilkley to improve the bathing water quality of the River Wharfe (£67 million)
  • South West Water upgrading assets and storage to reduce discharges in Falmouth and Sidmouth (£70 million)
  • Anglian Water accelerating its regional storm overflow reduction plan in the east of England (£27 million)
  • Essex and Suffolk Water increasing water resilience in their area to better meet the needs of local customers including businesses (£18 million)
  • Severn Trent rolling out smart meters and modifying its Draycote Water reservoir in Warwickshire to increase water capacity (£70 million)
England’s ‘most dangerous’ roads receive funding to improve safety

£47.5m from the Safer Roads Fund will be used to improve the safety of England’s 27 most dangerous roads.

Frequently Flooded Allowance: Funding for repeatedly flooded communities

£100m of funding will be split across 53 projects to help areas across England that have suffered repeated flooding. Details of these projects are included in this article.

Almost £2 million awarded to flood schemes planned for East Riding

The South Cave Flood Alleviation scheme has been awarded £1.575m and the Market Weighton Flood Alleviation scheme has been awarded £419,000. Both projects are in the early development stages.

A London council wants to create an ‘urban forest’ beside the Thames

Wandsworth Council is considering creating a 1,300 sqm park on the Putney Embankment, running between the Thames and Lower Richmond Road.

How the council want to refurbish Health Hydro ahead of decision day

Swindon Borough Council will be deciding if a £6.5m project to refurbish the Health Hydro will go ahead. If plans are approved, the works will see renovations made to the pool, changing rooms and lobby.

Aberdeenshire Council puts Peterhead Community Campus project plans to the public (Scotland)

Designs for a new £71m  community campus in Peterhead have been put out for public consultation by Aberdeenshire Council. The campus will replace several schools, while also providing a range of facilities to the local community.

Description: The North Western Universities Purchasing Consortium (NWUPC) is conducting market engagement for the renewal of a framework agreement for Photographic Equipment & Consumables for NWUPC Members and other participating regional consortia. The purpose of the engagement exercise is to inform of the forthcoming tender opportunity and seek the input of the market on a number of areas to help inform the structure and scope of the framework agreement. 

£2bn National Fuels 3 Framework Prior Information Notice

Description: Crown Commercial Service (CCS) as the Authority intends to put in place a Pan Government Collaborative Agreement for the provision of Supply of fuel to be utilised by Central Government Departments and all other UK Public Sector Bodies, including Local Authorities, Health, Police, Fire and Rescue, Education and Devolved Administrations. [It is intended that this commercial agreement will be the recommended vehicle for all national fuels required by UK Central Government Departments.] 

£300m Planned Maintenance and Property Reinvestment Framework Prior Information Notice

Description: The current Planned Maintenance and Property Reinvestment Framework is due to expire in May 2025. It is anticipated that the future framework will be divided into lots, and will be split by region, depending on the outcome of market engagement. Although the Framework is not due to expire until 2025, PfH wishes to undertake market engagement to inform its strategy as to the re-procurement of this framework, including scope, structure and timescales. PfH wishes to engage with suitably experienced and qualified suppliers in order to support the development of the strategy for the replacement framework. Engagement with SMEs will be particularly welcomed as well as with larger established companies. ICT System Solution(s) for a Home Support Services Case Mgmt & Nursing Home Support Scheme incl. Resource Mgmt Contract Prior Information Notice

Description:  A national ICT system is required to allow the HSE to administer and manage its statutory obligations under the existing Nursing Homes Support Scheme Act 2009 (NHSS) & the proposed Home Support Scheme Act. It is intended that access to home support services will include all clients over 18 years of age, and extend to those who are users of all HSE Mental Health, Disability and Older Persons’ Services. There is a need for a single scalable, flexible information system capable of facilitating both the NHSS & SHSS Schemes.
