The UK government has published revised guidance on how to design major public procurement projects (involving steel) in a way that ensures the best value for money by recognising relevant wider social and environmental benefits where appropriate. The revised guidance replaces existing guidance on procuring steel in major projects.
Stockton Council plans to spend £262m as part of its 3-year capital programme. Many projects are listed in this article, including:
– £11.5m partial rebuild of Egglescliffe School
– £20m new customer services and leisure facility in the town centre
– £36.5 demolition of the Castlegate site
– £22m for sustainable transport
– £19m for “strategic urban expansion”
Victoria Infirmary will be getting a 12,600 sq ft extension with two operating theatres, consulting rooms, and a recovery area. Plans also include the demolition of existing structures and the refurbishment of older structures.
Gwynedd council has decided to progress with plans for a £14.6m care home, that would be built on a 2-acre site, and accommodate around 60 residents.
Financial and commercial plans for the 30-year Clyde Metro have been confirmed thanks to support from the UK Infrastructure Bank. Clyde Metro plans to add trams to Glasgow and upgrade the rail network across 8 local authorities.
