Decision to be made on Festival Gardens development which could drop in size

Previous plans for the Festival Gardens development proposed 1,500 homes, but Liverpool City Council may lower this target after review. The council hopes to have a new developer secured to the project by Autumn. 

Cyclists and walkers to get major new river crossing linking England and Wales

A new footbridge over the River Wye will make it easier for cyclists and walkers to cross between England and Wales. The new traffic-free bridge has been approved by councillors and will have a modern design. The construction of the bridge will take about two years, and should start in 2023.

Plans to transform Cardiff Bay with 1.6 million sq ft mixed-use development take step forward (Wales)

Developers are invited to bid for a 30-acre site in Cardiff Bay with outline planning consent for a mixed-use development. The project could include 1,000 homes, hotel, office, retail and leisure spaces, and a light rail link to the city centre. The scheme could take 10 years to complete, and initial expressions of interest have a deadline of 26 May 2023.

Hundreds of council homes in Swansea to get solar panels

Swansea Council has announced a £26m project to install solar panels on 1,200 council homes over the next four years. The project will help generate and store electricity for power and light, which residents can use whenever they need it. The council said this will reduce energy costs and carbon emissions.

Highland Council aims to build 3,300 affordable homes in five years (Scotland)

Scotland’s Highland Council aims to build 3,300 affordable homes in the next five years, with plans submitted to the Scottish Government for approval.

£400m Water and Wastewater Network Maintenance Services and Associated Services Prior Information Notice

Description: Northern Ireland Water and its subsidiaries will be procuring a Contract for its Network Maintenance Programme with capacity to deliver improvement, repair and maintenance works across their water and wastewater network for the PC21 and PC27 Price Control periods. NI Water has in place a contract for these services until 2025. Procurement for the new Contract is anticipated to commence in early 2024.

£25m Temporary Accommodation and Decant Services Contract

Description: Procurement for Housing (PfH) is seeking to establish a Framework Agreement for the provision of Accommodation and Decant Managed solutions. PfH wish to appoint a panel of experienced suppliers to a single lot to carry out services to PfH Members in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland and the wider public sector (“Contracting Authorities”) permitted to use the framework. The successful suppliers will be required to provide a full range of inclusive Accommodation and Decant services. This will include the core provision of a 24 hours a day 365 days a year accommodation vetting, search and booking service, in addition to the hire and or purchase of relevant associated provisions.
