Active Travel England to be consulted on all large planning applications

Active Travel England (ATE) will now advise on walking, wheeling and cycling options for all big developments. A development is considered large-scale if it has at least 150 housing units, 7,500 m2 of floorspace or an area of 5 hectares.

East-West Rail: Route for £5bn Bedford to Cambridge link announced

The East-West Rail (EWR) project, which aims to connect Oxford and Cambridge with a £5bn railway line, has revealed the preferred route of its central section. The route will run from Bedford to Cambridge and will feature new stations at Tempsford and Cambourne. It will also approach Cambridge from the south of the city.

St Helens town centre transformation: hundreds view plans

A modern market hall with 23 stalls, food and drink outlets, a bar and a performance area is at the heart of the plans to revamp St Helens town centre. The council has released an image of the hall and is seeking public feedback on its vision. The project also includes a new office, retail and residential space, a hotel and a better bus station. 

‘Build it once and built it right’ plea to government over HS2 rail station in Manchester

Calls are being made to the government to adopt alternative HS2 plans for Manchester. A new proposal called ‘Manchester’s Way Forward’, suggests building a new high-speed station at Manchester Airport, a tunnel under south Manchester, and a new junction at Golborne that would allow HS2 trains to run on NPR tracks.

Two projects worth £1.7m that aim to prevent flooding on the River Severn could soon get the green light.

Controversial £11.2m plan to rejuvenate North Yorkshire’s largest town centre pushed forward

The Harrogate Gateway scheme aims to reshape areas around James Street and Station Parade. If approved, plans include a two-way segregated cycle route and bus lane to facilitate quicker entry into the bus station, as well as partial pedestrianisation and new public spaces.

It is intended that this commercial agreement will be the recommended vehicle for all front office counter services required by UK Central Government Departments.

£90m Catering Equipment Dynamic Purchasing System

Description: The Education Authority are seeking to appoint supplier(s) to a Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for the supply and delivery of Catering Equipment. This DPS will eventually encompass all Commercial/Heavy and Light equipment required by the EA Catering Service and the permitted users named. Further competitions will be run from the established DPS under 9 distinct lot categories. The DPS will be for an initial period of 10 years, from the date of establishment unless otherwise terminated.
