Firm appointed to design £249m project near Cheltenham

Gloucestershire County Council has appointed Galliford Try to design a £249m project to improve the M5 J10 near Cheltenham, and will seek approval from the Planning Inspectorate later this year. The project aims to create a new junction on the M5 that allows traffic to enter and exit in both directions, by building new slip roads for both north and southbound traffic. The plans also include a new road to link the A4019 with the B4634, and the widening of the A4019 Tewkesbury Road.

Sheffield: £117m plan to rebuild city’s leisure centres

Sheffield City Council has announced a £117m project to enhance the leisure and entertainment options in the city. The project will include rebuilding three leisure centres: Springs, Concord and Hillsborough. It will also involve upgrading two venues: Sheffield Arena and City Hall.

More cycle infrastructure and pedestrian improvements for Nottingham

Nottingham City Council has received more than £1.7m from the Active Travel Fund, which will be used for improving Porchester Road in Mapperley – a vital part of the strategic cycle network.

The rail minister has announced that the government will soon reveal its possible plans for a new railway station in Bradford. The new station would help to boost the development of the West Yorkshire city.

Bristol gets £3.6m to help boost cycling safety

The government has given Bristol £3.6m to make it safer and easier to walk and cycle. The money will go to five new projects in the city centre, Knowle West, Old Market and Bedminster. It will also pay for new cycle hangars to protect bikes from theft.

£490m Network Rail North West & Central Region CP7 Frameworks relating to Capital Delivery Works (Phase 2): Framework Category A

Network Rail is intending to put in place a number of frameworks for Control Period 7 (CP7) for the delivery of capital works in the North West & Central Region. These frameworks are divided into categories and have been subject to multiple procurement exercises in two separate phases.

This Contract Notice relates to Phase 2 which comprises of Framework Category A. This category relates to the design and build of “large projects” and includes two separate lots for projects with a value of £7m to £200m (Lot A1) and £7m to £50m (Lot A2).
