The government’s advisers on climate change have slammed the government’s net zero plans in a scathing report that says almost every target is being missed.
This could create a wave of opportunities to help the government reach its targets. It could also result in more carbon reduction requirements within tenders.
The Climate Change Committee, the government’s advisers on climate change, have suggested that the Government should consider halting road-building schemes to cut pollution, as they warn net zero targets are slipping. The increase is largely because Government now expects road transport emissions to be around 50 per cent higher than previous estimates.
The council is looking for more funding to deliver the Banwell Bypass project near Weston Super Mare in Somerset, as the costs have soared due to current market conditions. The original budget had £7.6m to deal with price fluctuations, but this is not enough to cover the gap that has emerged.
A full business case will now be developed for a £1.8m project to make changes to a Surrey A-road that has been labelled “one of the worst in the country”. The project aims to improve the road and lower the likelihood of injuries from collisions.
People are being asked for their opinions on how to spend £11m to transform a harbour town in Cumbria. Ideas already include a new play area at the Wave Leisure Centre and enhancements to the promenade.
Here we share the tender and prior information notices that caught our attention this week.
